Joseph Gordon: paying attention

Joseph Gordon is a very famous actor. In this TED talk, he speaks up a major aspect that is causing an inferiority complex. That is getting/seeking attention. We post on social media to get likes. He also feels bad when some other actor has more followers than he has. But he focuses on PAYING ATTENTION. When we pay attention we don't take the other person as our rival but we see them as a collaborator. Collaborating with the person you think is very good at their work will teach you more than compete against the same person.

I have seen his movie "The Walk". It is a true story about a man who walks on a rope that is tied across the Notre Dame towers. It is a must-watch.

Tim Harford: A powerful way to unleash your natural creativity
How frustration can make us more creative
             Trial, error, and God Complex

Tim Harford talks about SLOW-MOTION MULTI-TASKING. He tells how big scientists like Albert Einstein used to switch topics of their research to freshen up their minds. But they continued on the same project while doing something else. Working on something very different from your original project helps you with anxiety from blocking ideas. Sometimes new ideas strike while doing something else. That's why mentors suggest taking up a foreign language. You learn while getting distracted from your workload.

Tim Harford talks about how difficult situations make us more efficient. The challenges we face when something goes off-track makes us more cautious and thus we tend to perform better. WORKING WITH A LITTLE MESS can challenge your discipline.

Tim Harford talks about how trials and errors can lead to bigger mistakes or better solutions. In his example of the doctor from the war, the doctor used trial and error to find the cure of a disease. But overcoming the God Complex (believing that we right all the time), made him look clearer. He suggests to not stop making mistakes but to MAKE BETTER MISTAKES.

Adam Grant: The Surprising habits of original thinkers

Originals are procrastinators. They are always late to the party. Being a precrastinator is a convergent thinker. People who are late most likely generated more ideas. These ideas could be 70% bad but that 30% are better than the ones who did it before the deadline. So, Adam Grant said that sometimes it is better to procrastinate.

Elif Shafak: The revolutionary power of diverse thoughts

Elif Shafak says that we can taste words, hear fragrance and touch the voice. Our senses have emotions that we can taste, smell, touch, see and hear.
